What is a PESO certification?
PESO is the Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organisation, often known as the Chief Controller of Explosives (CCOE). This organization administers, controls, and manages the safety requirements for the manufacturers, importers, exporters, sellers, storage, transportation, and handling of explosives, flammable materials, pressure vessels, petroleum, and compressed gases. It also manages petrol stations in India.
PESO Certification describes the oil and gas sector’s mandatory approval mechanism for goods that handle gases, are used in the oil industry, or must withstand severely corrosive environments. It is also one of the essential requirements for the installation of all electrical equipment in potentially explosive environments. According to Rule 106 of the Petroleum Rules 2002, electrical equipment used in hazardous places requires PESO approval.
The PESO headquarters are in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
